DUBAI, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- United Arab Emirates' (UAE's) Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Saturday urged all pupils to excel at school to create a better future for the Gulf state.

The vice president said to pupils that "your school adopted you to embrace your country. Give you a note to give us a glory. From your ranks, your dreams begin. And on your books, the future of your country."

He concluded by saying "make your schools a home for you. May God help you and your shepherd."

The vice president initiated in March 2017 the strategic masterplan UAE Centennial 2017 which aims to transform the oil-dependent economy into a knowledge-based economy through education and investments.
