BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Kelsey-Lee Roberts clinched the gold medal in the women's javelin throw at 77th edition of the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Australian athlete secured the triumph with her last throw of 62.70 meters to beat Germany's European champion Christin Hussong, who couldn't respond with her last attempt, on the second place with 61.51 meters.

"This is my first time in Berlin and it was absolutely amazing. ISTAF is absolutely so much fun, competing in this stadium is amazing," Roberts said.

European championships' runner-up Nikola Ogrodnikova from Czech Republic concluded the competition on third position with a throw of 60.35 meters.

Due to the tight programme, the women's javelin contest has been restricted to four attempts.

The ISTAF in Berlin's Olympic Stadium is the biggest athletics meeting in the world and attracts annually 50,000 spectators as approximately 180 athletes from 40 countries and regions compete in 15 disciples. Enditem
