American Quigley wins women's 3,000m Steeplechase at ISTAF

BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- American Colleen Quigley crossed the finish line with 9 minutes 10.27 seconds to win the women's 3,000m steeplechase at the 77th edition of the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Quigley ran to a personal best of 9:10.27 to ensure a victory ahead of Daisy Jepkemei from Kenya, who came second in 9:14.66.

"The crowd is awesome. They carried me to the finish line, I hear them cheering very loud. It was an amazing opportunity to run on this track at the ISTAF," Quigley said.

Australia's Genevieve Lacaze took the third place in 9:23.69.

The ISTAF in Berlin's Olympic Stadium is the biggest athletics meeting in the world and attracts annually 50.000 spectators as approximately 180 athletes from 40 countries and regions compete in 15 disciplines. Enditem
