KUNMING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The China U-21 national football team beat Myanmar 1-0 in the International Youth Football tournament 2018 in Qujing in south China's Yunnan Province on Tuesday.

China U-21 held the upper hand from the very beginning of the match. He Xi put the hosts ahead 1-0 in the 12th minute, assisted by Xie Weijun. The two teams fought hard in the second half and created good chances but failed to convert them.

Although the Chinese Football Association has not officially announced the coach of China's Olympic team, Dutch legend Guus Hiddink showed up and watched the whole game from the stands, triggering speculation about his link to the post.

Earlier today, Uzbekistan U-21 beat Tajikistan U-21, 1-0 in the opening match.

The tournament will be played in a round-robin format. China U-21 will face Tajikistan and Uzbekistan next on Sep. 6 and Sep. 8 respectively. Enditem
