BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China supports Venezuela's efforts in developing economy and improving people's livelihood, and is willing to provide aid to Venezuela within its ability, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said Friday.

Li made the remarks while meeting with visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Commending the good development momentum of bilateral relations, Li said the two heads of state held fruitful talks to jointly chart the development of bilateral relations and the two countries should make joint efforts to explore new prospects for bilateral relations and cooperation.

Li called on the two sides to adhere to the principle of equality, mutual benefit, cooperation and win-win results, continue with economic and trade exchanges, and encourage commercial and sustainable cooperation.

"We hope the Venezuelan side can provide more policy support and legal protection," said Li, calling on the two sides to cement people-to-people exchanges and solidify the foundation of friendly public opinions.

Maduro applauded the bilateral relations as a model of cooperation between countries.

Venezuela has mapped out a national economic recovery and growth plan, and welcomes Chinese companies to actively take part in Venezuela's economic development, Maduro said, adding that Venezuela stands ready to further forge ahead all-round cooperation with China.
