BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- A symposium was held Monday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yang Jingren, a former vice premier.

Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended the symposium and met Yang's family members prior to the event.

Yang, who died in 2001 at the age of 84, also served as vice chairman of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth CPPCC National Committee.

Sun Chunlan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Vice Premier, also attended the symposium, calling on officials to learn from Yang's firm beliefs and loyalty to the CPC.
