LA PAZ, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- South American football governing body CONMEBOL has chosen Rio de Janeiro's iconic Maracana Stadium as the venue for next year's Copa America final.
Sao Paulo's Morumbi Stadium will host the opening ceremony and the tournament curtain raiser on June 14, with the final slated for Brazil's spiritual home of football on July 7.
The venues were confirmed during a meeting of CONMEBOL's board in Bolivian capital La Paz late Tuesday, according to widespread press reports.
The semifinals will take place at Arena de Gremio in Porto Alegre and the Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.
Other host venues for the world's oldest international continental tournament are Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo and Salvador's Arena Fonte Nova.
Chile have secured the past two Copa America titles, having won it for the first time as hosts in 2015 before defending their crown in the centenary edition in the United States a year later.
