SYDNEY, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Australian defender Curtis Good has returned to his home club Melbourne City after a six year stint in the English Premier League (EPL) with competition powerhouse Newcastle United.

Good, who suffered a number of career plaguing injuries while at Newcastle, announced on Tuesday that he is fit and ready to perform for the 2016-17 league winners.

"I'm motivated to work hard in training and remind everybody what I can do," Good said.

The centre back has signed a one year deal with his former club, despite just 18 senior level starts since 2012.

"Curtis is a quality defender who still has a lot of potential," Melbourne City manager Warren Joyce said.

"With the support of our coaching staff and the rest of the players, Curtis has the chance to push and challenge for a place in the team and set himself back on the right track."
