NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks traded on an upbeat note on Tuesday as some of the biggest tech shares rebounded, bolstering the market amid Washington's latest tariff offensive against Beijing.

At midday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 159.24 points, or 0.61 percent, to 26,221.36. The S&P 500 was up 20.27 points, or 0.70 percent, to 2,909.07. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 88.34 points, or 1.12 percent, to 7,984.14.

The Dow's triple-digit gains were led by rallying Intel and Nike stocks. Shares of both companies rose more than 2 percent, around midday.

Tech sector trade about 1 percent higher. Shares of U.S. chipmaker Micron Technology and streaming services provider Netflix advanced 5.05 percent and 3.92 percent, respectively. Amazon shares gained more than 2 percent. Apple and Alphabet also traded higher.

Strong gains in tech and in Asian markets lifted investor sentiment, but concerns that further escalations in trade tensions could negatively impact the global economy remained, market strategists noted. Enditem
