BUCHAREST, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislator Shen Yueyue called on China and Romania to enhance alignment of development strategies under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative as she ended a four-day visit to Romania on Wednesday.

Shen is vice chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the All-China Women's Federation.

During her visit, Shen met with Chamber of Deputies Speaker Liviu Dragnea, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, as well as president of the Women's Organization of the ruling Social Democratic Party and European Funds Minister Rovana Plumb.

Shen said China is willing to work with Romania to implement the consensus reached between the leadership of the two countries, and enhance alignment of development strategies under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Proposed by China in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which are aimed at building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road on land and at sea.

Shen also called for more inter-parliamentary exchanges with Romania in such fields as governance and legislative supervision.

The All-China Women's Federation is willing to deepen cooperation with the Romanian side over women's exchanges and women's organizations, Shen said.

These efforts, she said, would help promote the Sino-Romanian partnership of comprehensive friendly cooperation and build a community with a shared future for humanity.

The Romanian side said that China is an important partner of Romania and hopes to strengthen pragmatic cooperation and push for continuous progress in bilateral relations.
