IAAF President to visit Botswana for first time

GABORONE, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) President Sebastian Coe will visit Botswana from Nov. 3.

Coe, the twice British Olympic champion, will be the first IAAF president to visit the country.

Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) President Thari Mooketsi said in an interview on Wednesday that he is looking forward to Coe's 3-day visit.

Mooketsi said that Coe would meet Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Botswana National Sports Commission and Botswana National Olympic Committee.

Coe will also tour athletics facilities in the capital Gaborone and appreciate Kids Athletics, a grassroots development program created by IAAF in 2005 and implemented in 134 federations.

Furthermore, IAAF is expected to assist BAA develop the high performance center which serves the Southern African region. Enditem
