BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is set to miss the rest of the year with a fractured jaw, dashing his hopes of an imminent call-up to Argentina's national team.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury in a clash with Cruzeiro defender Dede during Wednesday's Copa Libertadores quarterfinal first leg in Buenos Aires where Boca won 2-0. Dede was sent off following a review of the incident by the video assistant referee (VAR).

Andrada remained on the pitch for the rest of the match but was later taken to hospital with pain and swelling.

Exams showed Andrada suffered a linear fracture and he is expected to undergo surgery on Friday, his agent Luciano Nicotra told Radio La Red on Thursday.

Local media reported that Argentina's interim coach Lionel Scaloni had been expected to include Andrada in his squad for October friendlies against Iraq and Brazil.

Boca Juniors and Cruzeiro will play the second leg of their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte on Oct. 4. Enditem
