WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. State Department confirmed on Monday the death of one American diplomat in Madagascar last week.
The foreign service officer was found dead in the residence "in the overnight hours of Friday," said Heather Nauert, the department spokesperson, in a statement released in the day.
"Diplomatic Security is collaborating with local Malagasy authorities on a joint investigation and a suspect is currently in custody," added Nauert in the statement.
Nauert did not release any details on the identity of the officer or the circumstances of the death occurring at the Indian Ocean nation.
