BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Major highways and artery roads saw stable traffic flow and no traffic accidents involving more than five deaths were reported during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, as millions of people took trips for family reunions, said China's Ministry of Public Security.

In a bulletin released at the end of the holiday on Monday night, the ministry said the stable traffic order was a result of over 160,000 police officers being deployed and more than 50,000 police vehicles being dispatched per day to maintain traffic order nation-wide. A total of 432,000 cases involving traffic violations were handled, the ministry said.

The ministry said middle and short-distance trips around cities were the primary travel choice for most Chinese people during the holiday, which started on Saturday.

Most traffic was concentrated on the peripheral roads of main city clusters such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing area at the beginning and end of the holiday, the report said.
