PARIS, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.50 percent, or 27.68 points, to close at 5,540.41 points.
26 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl. advanced 1.98 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi rose 1.88 percent, followed by Pernod Ricard SA, a French company that produces and sells wines and spirits, which gained 1.73 percent.
European IT services corporation Atos went down by 2.23 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer lost 1.79 percent. Oil and gas firm Technipfmc edged down 1.63 percent. Enditem
