WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The US Tennis Association announced on Thursday that their Davis Cup captain Jim Courier is stepping down.

Courier, a former world number one, has won four Grand Slam men's singles titles, two from Australian Open and two from French Open. He also helped the US team win two Davis Cup titles in 1992 and 1995 respectively.

Courier was appointed as captain of the Davis Cup US team in October 2010 and led the team into semifinals twice.

Earlier this month, the US team lost to host Croatia 3-2 in the Davis Cup semifinals. Enditem
