SANTIAGO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Reinaldo Rueda said Thursday that he would assess his future as coach of Chile following elections for the national football federation's presidency in November.
The Colombian has reportedly told colleagues that he will be prepared to quit if the Chilean Football Federation's (ANFP) incumbent president Arturo Salah fails in his bid for re-election in November.
"We have to think about it. It's a question of assessing the situation," Rueda told reporters on Thursday. "If the new directors don't want me to continue, I will have no choice. But if they want me to continue, as long as they let us work, I'll be here to do just that. That's what motivates us. Any coach in the world would like to coach Chile."
When asked about Salah, Rueda added: "He has done a very good job in all aspects and allowed me to go about doing my work."
Rueda was appointed Chile coach in January, three months after the Roja failed to qualify for this year's World Cup in Russia.
According to local media reports, the 61-year-old is among the favorites to assume Colombia's head coaching position following this month's departure of Jose Pekerman.
