KATHMANDU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Nepal hosted a special reception in Kathmandu on Friday evening to mark the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on Oct. 1.

The event was attended by Nepali Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, former prime ministers, ministers, political leaders, Members of Parliament, diplomats, representatives from different organizations and journalists among others.

Addressing the function, Chinese Ambassador Yu Hong briefed about China's economic growth trend, development, people's livelihood and reform, stressing that China will work even harder to advance reform and opening up.

"This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. It injects new momentum into the common development of the global economy," Yu said.

In regard to China-Nepal relations, the ambassador said China fully supports and participates in Nepal's economic and social development.

"The cooperation between the two countries has been further strengthened with joint efforts of both sides. I strongly believe that China-Nepal relations and cooperation will reach a new height," she said.
