SINGAPORE, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 0.05 percent or 1.59 points to close at 3,255.46.
A total of 1.05 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 764.7 million Singapore dollars (about 558.07 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 222 to 159.
The STI index went up 0.64 percent or 20.79 points to close at 3,257.05 last Friday. Enditem
