Uganda sends five athletes to 2018 Youth Olympic Games

KAMPALA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's team of five athletes on Wednesday traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to take part in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games which will be held from Oct. 6 to 18.

Sheila Agonzibwa, the leader of the delegation, told Xinhua before departure that the team has three track and field athletes, together with a rower and a weightlifter.

"Although we have a small team going for the Youth Olympics, we are confident they will bring some medals," added Agonzibwa who is also a member of the Uganda Olympic Committee.

Oscar Chelimo, one of the athletes told Xinhua that he has trained well and hopes to collect a medal at the Games.

"Winning a medal at the Youth Olympics will be very important for me in my career," said Chelimo.

The five athletes are Oscar Chelimo (athletics) , Sarah Chelangat (athletics), Esther Yego Chekwemoi (athletics), Hamdad Lutaaya (weightlifting) and Grace Ndagire (rowing).
