Real Madrid's Navas returns to Costa Rica squad

SAN JOSE, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been recalled to Costa Rica's national squad for friendlies against Colombia and Mexico, the country's football federation said on Thursday.

Navas was among a host of senior players who missed Costa Rica's friendly fixtures against South Korea and Japan last month, which the Central American team lost 2-0 and 3-0, respectively.

Others to return to the Ticos squad for the upcoming matches are midfielder Bryan Ruiz, defender Giancarlo Gonzalez and forward Joel Campbell.

"The presence of Keylor is important due to the leadership that he brings," coach Ronald Gonzalez said. "He is looking forward to coming and playing these matches," he added.

Costa Rica will play Mexico in Monterrey on October 11 and Colombia in New Jersey five days later.
