CHICAGO, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures closed higher on Friday, with soybeans rising more than 1 percent as heavy rain and even flooding may hit U.S. Midwest.
The most active corn contract for December delivery rose 0.75 cent, or 0.2 percent, to 3.6825 dollars per bushel. December wheat delivery went up 3 cents, or 0.58 percent,to 5.21 dollars per bushel. November soybeans were up 9.75 cents,or 1.13 percent, to 8.69 dollars per bushel.
Soybeans rallied as a "prolonged wet weather pattern" would lead to another round of heavy rain in the Midwest. The U.S. National Weather Service on Friday morning issued a series of flood warnings concerning some rivers in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Traders fear that the extreme wet conditions may prevent timely harvest of soybeans and corn and even lead to harvest loss.
Possible interruption of Russian wheat exports due to phytosanitary concern continued to support CBOT wheat futures, said market watchers.
