Conference on virtual reality to be held in Jiangxi

NANCHANG, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 World Conference on VR Industry will be held from Oct. 19 to 21 in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, organizers said Sunday.

The event, with the theme "VR makes a more wonderful world," will see more than 170 guest speakers in a number of forums centering on VR, artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G technology. A VR expo will also be held during the event.

"We invited more than 2,000 guests in the industry from 18 countries and regions to the event," said Jiangxi's vice governor Wu Xiaojun. "A total of 60 projects will be inked during the conference and total investment will amount to 19.1 billion yuan (2.78 billion U.S. dollars)."

China's VR market is expected to continue to have rapid growth in the next few years. The VR market will likely exceed 90 billion yuan by 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of over 120 percent, according to the China Center for Information Industry Development with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. China's VR market expanded 164 percent year on year to reach 16 billion yuan in 2017, data showed.
