Bolsonaro leading Brazilian presidential race, partial count shows

RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Initial partial results from Sunday's general elections in Brazil show right-wing populist Jair Bolsonaro has a strong possibility of winning the first round.

With 57 percent of votes counted, Bolsonaro has 48.9 percent of valid votes, followed by Fernando Haddad, of the left-leaning Workers' Party (PT), with 26.3 percent, and Ciro Gomes, of the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), with 12.1 percent.
