Uzbekistan, France sign 5-bln-euro business deals

PARIS, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan and France have signed 5-billion-euro (5.73-billion-U.S. dollar) deals during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's first official visit to Paris, his press office announced here on Tuesday.

After meeting with French leading groups including Total, Vinci, Suez and Thales in addition to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the French Development Agency, Uzbekistan signed accords in several sectors as part of the central Asian state's "comprehensive reform plan to boost economic activity and attract and protect foreign investment", it said.

No details were given on the signed accords.

During his two-day stay in Paris, Mirziyoyev met on Monday Gerard Larcher, president of the French Senate, as well as Audrey Azoulay, the Director General of UNESCO.

He was scheduled to have talks with French President Emmanuel Macron later on Tuesday.

For January-August period this year, trade exchange between the two countries totaled 195.1 million U.S. dollars, according to official figures. (1 euro = 1.147 U.S. dollars) Enditem
