FRANKFURT, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index down 173.15 points, or 1.48 percent, to close at 11,539.35 points.
Industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, down by 3.34 percent, followed by pharmaceutical company Merck and insurance and financial services company Allianz, which lost 3.31 percent and 3.25 percent respectively.
Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer, energy group RWE and European health care company Fresenius SE were the top three winners, rising 3.96 percent, 2.11 percent and 0.44 percent respectively.
Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 665.88 million euros (770.42 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
