SANTIAGO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero on Wednesday held a meeting of export businesses to outline the new mission for ProChile, an institution of Foreign Ministry in charge of promoting Chilean exports.

The meeting, to which over 100 small and medium export firms were invited, was intended to "reinforce and strengthen our foreign policy in terms of supporting and promoting the exports," said the Foreign Ministry.

Tactics for helping small and medium businesses, supporting female entrepreneurs and improving innovation are also part of ProChile's new outlook, it added.

According to the ministry, ProChile has been working for months to renovate its mission and export guidelines.

Due to "the world's rapid rate of change," ProChile must make use of "much more science, technology, innovation and robotics" in order to adapt its export policies, said Ampuero.

Technology and innovation can help Chile consolidate its position in the international market, exporting the country's "abundance of fruits, woods, fish and coppers," he added.

"We think Chile's foreign policy is important because it concerns people. Regardless of where you live, we want you to understand that Chile's foreign policy and international economic relations have an impact on your life," he said.
