BERLIN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Luka Jovic's five goals helped Eintracht Frankfurt ease 7-1 past hapless Fortuna Dusseldorf at the opener of the 8th round in Bundesliga on Friday.

The "Eagles" showed no mercy with newly promoted Dusseldorf as three first-half and four second-half goals ensured their third consecutive victory in the league.

Dusseldorf helped the hosts to break the deadlock with 21 minutes into the game when a handball penalty allowed Frankfurt's Sebastien Haller to score the opener from the spot.

The hosts doubled their lead only seven minutes later as Filip Kostic's delivery into the box found Luka Jovic, who volleyed home artistically from close range.

Jovic remained in the thick of things as he wrapped up his brace after slotting home with a low shot from 15 meters in the 34th minute.

After the restart, Dusseldorf continued absolutely harmless whereas Frankfurt started where they left off as Sebastien Haller chipped the ball over onrushing goalkeeper Michael Rensing to reap his brace in the 50th minute.

Dusseldorf showed a vital sign after substitute Dodi Lukebakio scored their consolation goal to reduce the arrears to 4-1 three minutes later.

However, the hosts continued to press relentlessly as Jovic's turn-shot made it 5-1 on the scoreboards, with his third of the night, moments later.

The Serbian international wasn't done with scoring and added another two goals to round off Frankfurt's goal festival with overall five goals.

"I was mainly responsible. If you want to be a Bundesliga professional something like that should not happen. If the defense fails like today, you concede that many goals. There is no excuse or explanation for such a performance," Dusseldorf defender Kaan Ayhan said.

With the result, Eintracht Frankfurt climbed from the 7th to the 6th place. Fortuna Dusseldorf slumped to the 18th and last place of the standings.

The following fixtures are scheduled for Saturday: Bayer Leverkusen host Hannover, struggling Stuttgart face front runners Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg see Leipzig, Wolfsburg meet Bayern Munich, Nuremberg encounter Hoffenheim and Schalke clash with Werder Bremen.
