BERLIN, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- BMW recalls more than one million vehicles worldwide due to problems with exhaust gas recirculation systems, the German carmaker announced on Tuesday.

In some diesel vehicles, glycol cooling fluid can leak from a faulty component which in extremely rare cases cause a fire, BMW group stated.

In order to check affected exhaust gas recirculation systems, BMW is carrying out a "technical campaign" and will "replace any faulty components" of the affected diesel vehicles.

In August, BMW already announced a recall of about 480,000 diesel vehicles in Europe and Asia due to problems with exhaust systems. In total, the recalls cover around 1.6 million diesel vehicles worldwide.

Diesel vehicles that are affected by the recall were produced between August 2010 and August 2017. BMW announced to inform customers if their vehicles are involved.
