DUBAI, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-based company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) said on Wednesday that construction of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital Abu Dhabi's Hyperloop transport system will start in the third quarter of 2019.
According to a statement, HTT appointed Beirut-based design and engineering firm Dar Al-Handasah to assist the project.
Earlier this year, HTT and Abu Dhabi's biggest property firm Aldar Properties signed an agreement to establish the Hyperloop system for Abu Dhabi.
"We are bringing the future of rapid transportation technology to all those living in the UAE," said HTT Chairman Bibop Gresta.
The Hyperloop is expected to reach a maximum speed of 1,230 kph.
Founded in 2013, HTT is a global firm comprised of more than 800 engineers, creatives and technologists.
