BEIRUT, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- British Ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling on Thursday urged Lebanon to form a government in order to attract investors.
"Lebanon must form a government which will enable it to attract investors during the United Kingdom's investment summit," Rampling was quoted by the National News Agency as saying.
Rampling said that this summit, which will take place on Dec. 12, will serve as a platform for helping the UK explore potential fields for investment in Lebanon.
Rampling's remarks came during his meeting with Mohammad Choucair, head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
The two sides discussed means to bolster economic relations and enhance cooperation between the private sectors in both countries.
Their discussions also covered measures needed to be taken in this context after the British exit from the European Union.
Choucair said that Lebanon has promising investment opportunities including infrastructure development projects approved by the CEDRE donor conference, as well as in other sectors, especially oil and gas.
Lebanon has failed to form a government nearly half year after its May elections due to deep rifts among political parties over their share of cabinet posts.
