CARACAS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's Vice President of the economy Tareck El Aissami on Thursday announced the commercial alliance with the tourism and airline services company Air Europa.

During a press conference, El Aissami said they have "sealed a very important deal, which could be called historic, with Air Europa whom we thank for having confidence in Venezuela."

He said that the alliance consists of an "important investment in the area of hotels, and a strategic and commercial alliance with our main airline Conviasa."

The agreement with Air Europa also includes an alliance with "global tour operators, mainly European and an administration investment in some of Venezuela's international airports," he said.

El Aissami said that the agreement with the European company was made in the context of the program of recovery, growth and economic prosperity of Venezuela.

He added that they agreed that "all the operations contemplated in these investment, commercialization and tourism operation agreements will be backed by the petro."

The petro is the cryptocurrency being driven by the Venezuelan government to combat the sanctions placed on the country by the United States.

El Aissami highlighted the advantages that Venezuela has as a tourism destination, which would be enhanced with the services that will be available through the partnership with Air Europa.
