BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Friday called on political advisors to continue theoretical study and play a better role in promoting law-based governance.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, presided over the 11th chairman and vice chairpersons' meeting of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

Wang ordered the CPPCC National Committee to strengthen theoretical and practical explorations and promote innovations in and development of the CPPCC's work.

At a group study on law-based governance, which was part of the meeting's agenda, Wang said that the CPPCC National Committee should always uphold the Party's leadership and perform its duties within the boundaries of the Constitution and law.

"Political advisors should help ensure the process of legislation is scientific and democratic, and through this advance the modernization of the state governance system and capacity," he said.

Working reports of several committees of the CPPCC National Committee were heard at the meeting, while a scheme to improve the study and work of the CPPCC National Committee members and a revised plan to improve the research work of the CPPCC National Committee were deliberated and approved in principle.

A decision was also approved to dismiss Meng Hongwei from the CPPCC National Committee, and will be submitted to the fourth session of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee for final confirmation.
