RAMALLAH, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received on Sunday a letter from Oman Sultan Qaboos bin Said, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Muscat on Friday.

Abbas received the letter through Oman's special envoy Salem Bin Habib Al-Omeiri, said a report by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The letter "thanked Abbas for his last visit that reasserted the strong brotherly ties between both countries and the mutual keenness to strengthen it," said the report.

Abbas from his part valued the great support provided by Oman to the Palestinian people and it's just cause at all levels, the report said.

He reiterated the keenness of Palestine and its leadership to enhance the cooperation for the good of the Palestinian cause and Arab issues, according to the agency.

Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Oman's minister responsible for foreign affairs, said on Saturday that Oman is offering ideas to help Israel and the Palestinians to come together but is not acting as mediator.
