PARIS, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe scored just three minutes after coming off the bench to lift Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 past their arch rivals Marseille in the Ligue 1 on Sunday.
With their 11th straight victory since the start of the season, PSG have equaled the record for Europe's top five leagues set by Tottenham Hotspur in the 1960-61 season.
Mbappe was left on the bench by head coach Thomas Tuchel, who handed Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting a rare start and adopted back three in defending.
Both sides created few chances of breaking the deadlock in the first half. Marseille saw Luiz Gustavo's powerful shot from outside the box go just wide in the 28th minute. They saved PSG winger Angel Di Maria's low shot through Kevin Strootman's goal line clearance before the break.
Brazilian star Neymar finished his dummy on Marseille defenders before drilling a shot that went off the post in the 56th minute.
Three minutes after being dispatched by Tuchel in place of Choupo-Moting, Mbappe opened the scoring through his signature style as he sped through Marseille defender Boubacar Kamara and beat goalkeeper Steve Mandanda in the 65th minute. It was Mbappe's league-leading 10th goal of the campaign.
Marseille thought that they had found an equalizer late in the match, but that was ruled out by referee due to Strootman's foul on PSG captain Marquinhos.
Mbappe was also involved in the second goal into stoppage time. In a counter attack, he found Neymar, whose shot was latched onto by Julian Draxler at the far post before going wide.
PSG regain their eight-point advantage over second-placed Lille, who will visit the Parc des Princes next weekend.
