BERLIN, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich beat lower league side Roedinghausen 2-1 on two first-half goals, while Fortuna Dusseldorf came from behind to down Ulm 5-1 in the second round of the German Cup on Tuesday.

Bayern advanced into the round of 16 as goals from Sandro Wagner and Thomas Mueller were enough to edge Roedingshausen 2-1 on the road.

The Bavarians grabbed a bright start into the clash as Sandro Wagner opened the scoring after completing a combination via Renato Sanches with eight minutes played.

Nico Kovac's men piled on the pressure and doubled the lead five minutes later when Thomas Mueller converted a foul-play penalty after Fabian Kunze brought down Renato Sanches inside the box.

The Portugese international should have tripled the lead but Sanches smashed the second foul play penalty on the night to the cross bar at 23 minutes.

After the restart, Bayern retracted with their lead behind and allowed Roedinghausen to reduce the arrears. Simon Engelmann squandered the first promising chance from eleven meters before Linus Meyer eventually made it 2-1 following a square pass from Kelvin Lunga in the 50th minute.

The visitors remained unimpressed but lacked ideas to extend their lead against resilient hosts. However, Bayern remained in control of the proceedings on the pitch to book their berth for the next round.

Meanwhile, Fortuna Dusseldorf came from behind to eliminate Ulm as Dodi Lukebakio's first half brace ensured a 5-1 away victory.

Nevertheless, Ulm caught a fairy tale start in front of their home crowd as Adrian Morina broke the deadlock with just 13 seconds played to shock Dusseldorf.

The first-division club responded in the 13th minutes though when Marvin Ducksch restored parity after heading home Takashi Usami's pinpoint cross into the box.

Dusseldorf continued on the front foot and secured the 2-1 lead at the half hour mark when Dodi Lukebakio's assist allowed Rouwen Hennings to slot home from close range.

Dodi Lukebakio remained in the thick of things as he made it 3-1 on the scoreboards after drilling a long-range effort into the top right angle in the 37th minute. The midfielder sealed his brace only moments later when he scored with a well-placed shot on target in the 43rd minute.

Ulm were unable to respond after the half time meanwhile Dusseldorf rounded off the 4-1 victory through Hennings, who wrapped up his brace to put the result beyond doubt in the 70th minute.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg overcame Hannover 2-0 in the Lower Saxony derby. Chemie Leipzig lost 3-0 to Paderborn. Hertha Berlin ensured a hard earned 2-0 win over Darmstadt. Hamburg eased 3-0 past Wehen. Heidenheim see off Sandhausen 3-0 and Augsburg overpowered Mainz 3-2 in the overtime.

The following fixtures conclude the 2nd round in the German Cup: Rostock see Nuremberg, Weiche Flensburg host Bremen, Cologne encounter Schalke, Dortmund clash with Union Berlin, Kiel face Freiburg, Bielefeld take on Duisburg, Hoffenheim travel to Leipzig and Monchengladbach meet Leverkusen.
