Italian cyclist Masnada wins yellow jersey in nine-stage Tour of Hainan

Haikou, China, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Italian cyclist Fausto Masnada from the team of Androni Giocattoli claimed the yellow jersey of the nine-day Tour of Hainan cycling race on Wednesday.

Simon Pellaud of Swiss Cycling Team won the last stage as the race concluded in Danzhou in south China's Hainan province.

Raymond Kreder of Team Ukyo won the green jersey as the best sprinter with a total score of 90.

20-year-old Chinese rider Lyu Xianjing of Hengxiang Cycling Team gained the polka-dot jersey as the best climber and the blue jersey for the leading Asian cyclist at the same time.

Inaugurated in 2006, this year's event is the 13th edition of this annual professional road cycling race.

Kicking off on Oct. 22, the 2018 Tour of Hainan has nine stages for a total length of 1,481 kilometers, featuring 20 teams to vie for a total purse of 350,000 U.S. dollars. Enditem
