Ghana warm up in Brazil ahead of FIFA U-17 women's world cup

ACCRA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's Black Maidens left here on Wednesday to Brazil to limber up ahead of the FIFA U-17 women's world cup to be staged in Uruguay later this month.

The Ghanaian side, made up of the technical team and 21 players, made a transit in Morocco before arriving at Brazilian city of Sao Paolo where they will fine-tune for nine days before heading to Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay for the competition.

The team is expected to play two friendly matches in Brazil prior to their opening Group A encounter against hosts Uruguay on Nov. 13 at the Estadio Charrua in Montevideo, according to the Ghana FA.

The Black Maidens, who will be making their sixth consecutive appearance at the world cup, are housed in Group A of the Nov. 13 to Dec. 1 tournament, alongside Uruguay, New Zealand and debutants Finland.

The team will play Finland on Nov. 16 and then New Zealand on Nov. 20. Enditem
