Guangsha and Guangdong keep unbeaten in CBA

BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Guangsha defeated Shanxi 93-89 in the sixth round of the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) on Friday, earning their sixth consecutive win in the league.

Guangsha made a 48-43 lead in the first half, but Yan Pengfei helped Shanxi launched a 17-3 spurt during the third quarter, seeing his team lead 71-62 at the end of third period.

As one of the title favorites the season, Guangsha organized a solid defense in the last quarter and turned the table to score 16 staight points. Although Josh Adams help Shanxi take the lead again, Courtney Fortson notched seven points consecutively before the final whistle.

Fortson got 39 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the match. Adams had a 26-10 double-double for Shanxi.

Former NBA player Yi Jianlian was forced to withdraw in the second quarter because of ankle injury when his team of Guangdong faced Jiangsu. Zhou Peng took over Yi's key position of the CBA powerhouses and contributed 27 points plus four rebounds to lead Guangdong to their sixth win in a row in 111-105.

Jiangsu's Miroslav Radulica earned 28 points and six rebounds, but he missed a key three-pointer with 23 seconds remaining, failing to help Jiangsu avoid their four defeats in six games.

In the three other games played on Friday, Shanghai defeated Beijing 118-113 after an extra period, Longlions smashed Tongxi 123-109, Shenzhen lost to Xinjiang 115-111.
