MADRID, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid right back Dani Carvajal gave a vote of support to former Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui just a week after Lopetegui was sacked by the club following a poor start to the season and a 5-1 defeat to FC Barcelona.

The full back, who is currently recovering from a muscle injury, told Spanish national TV network, RTVE Lopetegui was the "best" coach he has worked with.

"For me he is the best coach I have ever had but unfortunately he didn't have that little bit of luck when he was with us," said the defender, who also spent two years working with Lopetegui in the Spain national team.

"His way of looking at football, of handling the squad, of being there for the players... that's something I share, it's the way I see football as well."

"I said it before he was Real Madrid coach and I'll say it again now that he's gone. And until I come across someone who for me is better than him, I'll keep saying it," he insisted.

26-year-old Carvajal has worked with several important coaches in his career, not least, Zinedine Zidane, who led Real Madrid to the last three Champions League titles.

He has also worked with such illustrious names as Carlo Ancelotti, Rafael Benitez and former Spain boss, Vicente del Bosque, as well as current Spain coach Luis Enrique. Enditem
