Hearing-impaired delivery rider Yang Pengpeng shows a label attached to goods explaining his hearing-impairment in Kuiwen District of Weifang, east China's Shandong Province, Nov. 8, 2018. An outsourced instant delivery service provider in Weifang has managed to employ more than 30 hearing-impaired riders who, after relevant vocational trainings, are proving themselves equally competent as their peers without hearing loss. The company's hearing-impaired delivery team consists of riders from varying backgrounds: college graduate, single mother, former driving coach and others. And the range of their service covers almost everything, from restaurant dishes to medicine and flowers. For the hearing-impaired riders, communication poses the biggest barrier, as most customers know little about the sign language. The riders have to use labels explaining their hearing impairment to the customers. Despite the difficulties in work, the hearing-impaired riders are gaining a sense of achievement and recognition as more and more customers have shown support and respect. (Xinhua/Guo Xulei)
