JERUSALEM, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two Israeli policemen were lightly injured in a Palestinian stabbing attack inside a police station in East Jerusalem on Wednesday night, the police said.

The incident took place in Armon HaNetziv, a Jewish neighborhood in southern East Jerusalem.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a statement that the police "arrested the terrorist who stabbed a police officer lightly."

The Jerusalem police said that a knife-wielding Palestinian entered the Armon HaNetziv police station and stabbed a para-military Border Police officer before he was shot and severely injured. Another policeman was wounded, apparently as a result of the shooting.

The national medical emergency service confirmed that three men were injured in the incident.

Last week, a Palestinian woman attempted to stab Border Police officers in a gas station near the West Bank settlement of Kfar Adumim using scissors. The suspect was shot and injured before she was taken to a hospital.

The recent attack came a day after Israel and Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist group, announced a cease-fire after three days of Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and barrages of Gazan rockets towards southern Israel. The fire cost the lives of at least 16, all but one were killed by Israeli fire in Gaza. Enditem
