Spanish consumer prices rise 2.3 pct in Oct.

MADRID, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Spain's consumer prices rose by 2.3 percent year on year in October from a year earlier, according to data published on Wednesday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading was the same as the annual rate of September.

Spain's consumer prices have been rising for 26 consecutive months.

According to the INE, prices of transport rose by 5.7 percent in October year-on-year due to increases in prices of fuel and lubricants.

Prices of items related to housing increased by 4 percent. Prices of items related to communications rose by 2 percent, according to the INE.

Meanwhile, on a month-to-month basis, October's consumer prices rose by 0.9 percent. Enditem
