KAMPALA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Cape Verde's head coach Rui Aguas has said they are determined to beat Uganda when they face-off on Saturday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group L tie at the Uganda National Stadium, Namboole.

Cape Verde's team arrived here on Thursday geared up for the game.

"We have only four points in the group and are in third position. We know this game is very important for us and we are here to win," Aguas told Xinhua.

"We lost 1-0 to Uganda last year when I was not in charge of the team. I have watched videos of the Uganda team and know what to do," added the Cape Verde coach.

Cape Verde started the campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Uganda Cranes before they drew with Lesotho 1-1 and beat Tanzania 3-0. They however lost their last game last month away to Tanzania 2-0.

The Cape Verde team will be led by Garry Mendes Rodrigues who features for Turkish Premier League side Galatasaray FC.

The team also has some other stars like Ricardo Gomes (Partizan Belgrade, Serbia), Julio Tavares (Dijon, France) and Nuno da Costa (Strasbourg, France).

Uganda lead the group with 10 points and only require a draw to qualify, while second placed Tanzania also need an away win against Lesotho to brighten their chances of qualification since 1980.
