RABAT, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Morocco defeated Cameroon 2-0 in Casablanca on Friday night to edge closer to 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

After a balanced first half at Mohammed V Complex, the Moroccan team pressed more on the Cameroonians and succeeded to score two goals through Ajax Amsterdam's star Hakim Ziyach.

Ziyach converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute before adding his second goal through a shot from outside the box in the 65th.

This was Morocco's first ever win against Cameroon in their 11 previous encounters.

After their win, Morocco move to the top of Group B with 10 points, two points more than Cameroon, while Malawi remain on four points followed by Comoros with one point.

With still a game to play, Morocco could officially qualify as of tomorrow if Malawi do not win against Comoros.

Cameroon automatically qualified for the Nations Cup as hosts. Enditem
