U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Friday with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of New Oriental Education & Technology Group and JD.com slid 5.34 percent and 4.75 percent, respectively, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of NetEase and Ctrip.com International advanced 0.87 percent and 0.30 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday as real estate and utility shares outperformed while a decline in chipmaker stocks capped market gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 123.95 points, or 0.49 percent, to 25,413.22. The S&P 500 rose 6.07 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,736.27. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 11.16 points, or 0.15 percent, to 7,247.87.

The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, decreased 9.21 percent to 18.14 on Friday.

As of Thursday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,529.57, marking a 1.47-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and an 18.16-percent loss for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
