Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Dow's rise, tech issue buybacks

TOKYO, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning following a positive lead set by the Dow Jones Industrial Average's rise late last week and as investors bought back tech issues offloaded following a subpar profit outlook from a major U.S. chipmaker.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 75.12 points, or 0.35 percent, from Friday to 21,755.46.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.09 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,631.39.

Mining, miscellaneous product and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
