Vietnam busts drug trafficking ring in central province

HANOI, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The border guard of Vietnam's central Quang Tri province have arrested three members from a local drug trafficking ring.

Doan Ngoc Phuc, 25, was caught red-handed transporting 2 kg of crystal meths in the province, Vietnam News Agency reported on Friday.

From Phuc's testimony, the authorities caught Nguyen Duc Hai, 29, and the ringleader Le Dinh Quang, 37.

According to Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
