Two people were killed and 57 others were injured in a machinery plant explosion in northeast China's Jilin Province Friday night, local authorities said Saturday morning. The accident occurred at around 11:40 p.m. Friday in Sanhe Township, Dongfeng County, leaving two people dead, including one who died in the hospital. The explosion also caused a fire in the plant. So far, a total of 41 houses have been damaged. Investigation into the explosion is underway and the rescue effort is continuing. (Xinhua/Lin Hong)
