RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras has secured its 10th Brazilian Serie A title after a 1-0 away victory over Vasco da Gama on Sunday.

Deyverson scored the sole goal of the match in the 72nd minute to earn his team three precious points.

With the result, Palmeiras, 77 points in hand, is five points ahead of second-placed Flamengo with only one round to go.

This is the club's second league title in three years, thanks to coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who returned home from Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande in July and led Palmeiras all the way to glory from the sixth place in the league.

Palmeiras will lift the trophy in front of home fans when it hosts Vitoria in Sao Paulo on Dec. 2.
